Two days, two very unhappy kitties..but it looks like things will be alright this time.

Yesterday, Lillith was spayed. When she came home, not only was she understandably upset and groggy, she was also seemingly in a great deal of pain, more than I've seen before post-surgery on any of my cats, short of the really major "let's rearrange your entire chest and abdomen" surgery on Kimi when she was a baby...
However, by the middle of the night, she'd stopped the period helpless crying and listlessness, at least mostly, and had voluntarily climbed onto my bed and curled up a little ways from me, and seemed to enjoy being petted again. Today she looks horridly skinny..I'm having to bribe her to eat, but otherwise she's alright.

So then, this morning, I get a call that my oldest kitty, Rumble, is being driven in to the vet hospital (not even our local vet) on an emergency..he's gone almost completely unresponsive. (Rumble is a "talker"..he'll quack and whine and fuss about anything..and he was named after an impressive purr)
I'll spare you his entire medical history here. Suffice it to say he's diabetic, FUS, and has had several emergency surgeries in his life, is on insulin, and periodically antibiotics.
I finally manage to get ahold of mom a while later to find out what the blood work showed at the vets. Rumble's blood sugar had dropped to 25. No, we don't know how either. They got him stabilized, and by the time mom left for work, he was standing and quacking and complaining again, if less vehemently than usual...
So...I'm very relieved. Being 12 hours away from Rumble bothers me, but this is precisely _why_ I'm 12 hours away. I can't be sure that if something happened, I could get him to the hospital on time. I'm closer to one than my parents are, but they have transportation, and I don't. and there are more people there to keep an eye on him and make sure he gets his shots and all that..but I still miss him...

At least I was able to bring Kimi with me, and now I have Lillith. It is better to have cats.
